The Christian Unraveling
Life’s frayed cord does not seem able to hold,
Splitting by the weight of your depression.
You thought life’s trials purified you like gold,
But you drift on the wake of aggression.
You feel as though it has all unraveled,
The promise of every idol has failed.
This is not new, it’s a road well-traveled,
The harder you hold, the darker it’s veiled.
But this unraveling is grace for you,
The threads unable to hold you must break.
One solid foundation to cling unto—
The Living Stone who will never forsake.
Even though your cord’s frayed and strength is gone,
This last thread’s been holding you all along.
