Growing up we had a clunky old rotary phone.
You’d turn the dial, like the Wheel of Fortune.
One wrong spin and you’d end up on a trip to
Some exotic place. I hated that thing.
Now I zoom to other countries with a tap,
I can even see them. One swipe and
I’m at someone’s yacht, watching the sunrise,
Another and I see children running from bombs,
Swipe again to a cat playing with yarn,
A final swipe brings me a gigantic room
Full of everyone’s thoughts on Elon Musk.
Only to realize that behind my screen
I missed a thousand moments in my own house.
Maybe we’ll give that rotary another spin one day.
Or, better yet, how’s your morning on Tuesday?
