Father in heaven, You see me as a squirm, fuss, fight— As if I were an animal caught in a trap of Your sovereignty. Though I try to muster all the faith I have, I don’t have enough. And I still can’t see ahead of me. So I keep on Obeying, Walking, Waiting, Testing, Trusting, Praying. And You keep on Leading, Providing, Speaking, Guiding, Working, Preparing, Loving. You work in the secret places— Where I cannot see the loving paths, Where I cannot see the careful plans. I’m like Job, who only sees a portion, May I say with him, You give and You take away. Blessed be Your name. Help me not to trust the strength of my faith, But the One who loves me. I feebly paint my doorpost With the unfailing blood of Your sacrifice.
Series Introduction
Sabbath Prayers is a series of written prayers that go live on Sundays (or Saturday night). For me, written prayers work like a defibrillator for my heart. Sometimes I need help putting truth into words. I hope these prayers help give you honest words and a true sense of God’s love. They are written for you (and me).
If you've been pilgrimaging with me and enjoying these posts, you may want to leave a small token of appreciation. I’m happy to give these writings free of charge, so there’s no pressure.
"Help me not to trust the strength of my faith,
But the One who loves me."
Amen to this!
Beautiful.
