Journeying Through the Fog
I couldn’t write it last night I needed the dawn I needed the sunlight to first warm my arm
Night after night it only gets darker The unhindered arrows strike for absent armor
You can’t see a thing In the heart of the fog It conceals the distance but not for too long
A light shines ahead I see it just barely Oh God, open my eyes again to be merry
There’s no shortcut here No paths around this fog I have to trudge deep in the depths of the bog
It gets brighter as I go It might even be near No longer can I go but I’m pushed from the rear
The light is in front but his presence is here He’ll not cast away those for whom his side took a spear
Your holiness would rightly bid me away But your sacrifice lovingly devises a way
The lion and the lamb you are for me Let me hide myself in thee.
