It’s offensive to ignore a rainbow,
as water disperses waves to
fully display light’s beauty,
reminding you of the Covenant,
that this very same rain won’t
destroy you. So always look at
rainbows. And never call the sky
“blue” and carry on. Is it not a
gradient of a million variations?
Does it not meet us in the
morning with warm oranges and reds?
Or at night with softly painted pinks on
puffy clouds? Color is beautiful.
Ironically, we're instructed to ignore it:
Just treat it transparent. Color is
only as good as it does. Blindness is a
virtue. And all those historical
mistreatments of color…
What do they have to do with today?
Just keep walking. Don’t look up at the
rainbow. It’s important to ignore those
storm clouds too. They’ll go away
if we don’t see them.
And now a different flood is coming.
A flood of black tears, long disregarded.
A flood of red blood, craftily concealed.
Ancient mixes with new, and rises.
But even if we don’t see it,
the ground speaks.
So maybe we will listen?
God made color and it is beautiful.
